Child Protection Policy

Child & Young Persons filming guidelines for Producers All performers are to be licensed in advance with LEA.

Separate changing areas for boys and girls & toilet facilities to be used only by children at any time. If necessary, ensure toilets are empty and guarded by a chaperone whilst children use them.

All precautions are to be outlined in Risk Assessments & Method Statements prior to the shoot.

The child’s safety and well-being must be prioritised and monitored at all times.

Never accept responsibility for a child; they must always be in the care of a parent or legally approved chaperone.

Only take on caring responsibilities in an emergency situation and call for immediate assistance or alert production.

Never give out your personal contact or social media details, and do not ‘friend’ or ‘follow’ children you work with on social networking sites.

Children have special needs as minors; care for them as children first and artists second.

Children are easily influenced, so behave appropriately around them and their parents, and don’t use inappropriate language, slang or gestures.

Listen carefully to and respect children at all times, and try to always understand them as you would an adult.

Treat each person equally without prejudice or discrimination.

Ultimately, if an individual feels anyone is behaving inappropriately around children, they must report the concern to the Producer.

Producers must write a time/dated report of any complaints and forward it to licensing LEA or the child protection team if warranted.
