Shooting in Delhi: How We Made the Most of the Setting

The International Series India made its historic appearance in the subcontinent, which brought our team to the opening tournament of the calendar, International Series India presented by DLF. As we witnessed the high-profile event enter its fourth season, we captured the stars of the LIV Golf League and the Asian Tour competing at DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurugram, on the outskirts of Delhi, from 30th January to 2nd February.

The capital’s mix of ancient history, stunning architecture, vibrant culture and, of course, delicious food made Delhi, India, one of the most highly anticipated events on the calendar for 2025. Throughout our time in the subcontinent, we were committed to capturing the local surroundings in Delhi, alongside the golf course in its best light. Our sports video production team ensured every frame reflected the energy of the tournament and the rich textures of Indian culture.

In addition to our crew that flew in from Manchester, we had the opportunity to collaborate closely with a talented local crew in India. Working side by side with the local team gave us valuable insights into the local and regional culture, adding value and understanding to the surroundings we were working within.

Why Delhi was the Perfect Backdrop for Our Golf Story

The course itself was maintained to the highest standards, with immaculate fairways and pristine greens. A standout feature of the DLF Golf and Country Club was its distinctive bunkers. Unlike traditional designs, these bunkers were lined with geotextile-lined faces. This not only enhanced their visual appearance but also improved their durability.

The golf course was also a thriving habitat for a variety of wildlife, from exotic birds to monkeys, and occasional reports of leopards roaming the grounds at night added a subtle thrill to our Delhi filming days.

Capturing the Taj Mahal: Navigating Permissions and Perfection

A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity saw two members of our team fly to one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Taj Mahal. The trip was organised for several star players of the event, including major-winning Bryson DeChambeau. We captured their experiences from flying on a private jet to digesting the beauty of the Taj Mahal, which left everyone in awe.

Due to the chaotic nature and crowded streets of the surrounding areas, the crew decided to travel light around the Taj Mahal and use minimalistic camera equipment. This enabled our team to work efficiently without diverting attention from the iconic Wonder of the World to our camera crew.

The footage we captured from the Taj Mahal was used to elevate our Tournament Opener, which we produced for the International Series. This piece of golf content opens by featuring several of the best players in the game sitting down in a cinema, before showcasing the beauty of the golf course and the Taj Mahal, followed by a variety of key players facing the DLF Golf and Country Club for the first time.

Managing People, Gear and Time in India

Working alongside the local crew added value to our team. Their understanding of the region and logistics played a crucial role in streamlining our workflow. Alongside their ability to capture context, their support helped us navigate any language barriers we faced.

Throughout the event, we also experienced heavy fog and haze almost every morning of the tournament. During the winter months in Delhi, this is a common occurrence, yet despite the fog being anticipated, it caused extensive delays as the players had to wait for the fog to lift before play could resume. This caused a knock-on effect on our working day and often delayed shoots. Despite these unprecedented conditions for us, we still delivered every piece of content on time.

Cultural Context Matters: Telling an Authentic Story

To ensure we accurately presented India’s rich and diverse culture, it was essential that we conducted thorough research while sourcing local music for our edits to avoid cultural misinterpretation. By taking the time to understand and research the cultural context behind each track, we ensured we created an authentic portrayal of the local culture and heritage, which would be seen by both local and global audiences.

Mob’s Signature Touch – Turning Sport into Cinematic Content

Throughout almost every golf event we cover, we have the opportunity to produce a variety of challenges with professional golfers, yet on Monday in India, we captured one of the most anticipated pieces of content we’ve ever had the chance to shoot. A golf challenge that saw two LIV Golf teams, the Crushers GC and Torque GC, go head-to-head from the 22nd floor of The Camellias at DLF Golf and Country Club, aiming to hit the ball closest to the pin.

This unique concept required a multi-camera set-up, with five cameras on the 22nd floor capturing the players’ swings and reactions, two cameras by the green focusing on the balls landing, and two drones capturing the scale of the challenge.

For our behind-the-scenes sports coverage, we documented not only the soaring shots but also the laughter, friendly rivalries, and production hustle that make our work so engaging. As a sports entertainment agency, Mob’s mission is to transform tournaments into unforgettable stories.

Despite being over 250 feet above the green, the players landed their balls exceptionally close to the pin on most attempts, alongside a few wayward efforts, which concluded an entertaining piece of content. This challenge left a lasting positive impression on all the players, crew, and viewers, which ranks very highly alongside the content we’ve shot at previous events.

Looking Ahead – What’s Next for Mob in Asia?

Since our successful visit to India, we have gone on to cover three additional International Series events in Macau, Japan, and Morocco. Each of these tournaments has played a vital role in growing the game of golf in Asia and on a global scale.

Looking ahead, we are excited to cover six more events before the end of the year, across Eastern Asia and the Middle East. Across these upcoming tournaments, we’ll strive to continue our momentum, showcase golf to new audiences and capture the current and future generation of golfers competing on an international stage.
